REGIONAL VARIETAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
FOR SOUTHEAST ASIA

CFC/ISO/20 Sugarcane Variety Improvement in Southeast Asia and the Pacific is the first variety exchange program implemented in Southeast Asia, financed by the Common Fund for Commodities (CFC) and supervised by the International Sugar Organization (ISO). It started in 2001 and drew to a close in August 2005. The project was aimed to improve and sustain market competitiveness in the region by enhancing the production and quality of sugarcane. The member countries were Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines.
